THE GREAT SAG HARBOR
RUBBER DUCKY RACE RULES!
The 2010 Great Sag Harbor Rubber Duck Race is a charitable event supporting Jordan's Initiative, a 501(c)(3) non profit foundation.
1. Ducks will be launched at approximately 1:00 PM on September 12th, 2010 into the bay off an anchored vessel just north of Long Wharf in Sag Harbor, New York. The race course will be approximately 600 feet in length as established by the Duck Race Committee and will terminate on the cove side of the LCpl Jordan Haerter Veterans' Memorial Bridge. The committee reserves the right, in its absolute and sole discretion, to postpone and/or reschedule the event. The committee shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, or inconvenience which may result by any such postponement or rescheduling of The Great Sag Harbor Rubber Ducky Race.
2. All ducks entered will be provided by and will remain the property of Jordan's Initiative.
3. Once the ducks are launched, they are on their own. No attempt to free or interfere with the duck is permitted. Ducks leaving the confines of the course will be reentered by race officials only. Ducks handled by any one other than race officials will be considered disqualified and removed. The race course will close 15 minutes after the first duck has crossed the finish line. Any duck crossing after that 15 minute time period will not be eligible for prizes.
4. A number will be written on each duck corresponding directly to the number on an adoption ticket. Multiple duck entries will be assigned a different duck identification number for each duck adopted. Prizes will be awarded to the person who's name appears on the entry ticket in the order the corresponding duck crosses the finish line.
5. Prizes will be posted the day of the event. Prizes will be awarded to at least the first 20 ducks to cross the finish line. Winners need not be present to receive a prize.
6. Price to adopt a duck will be as follows: one (1) for $5.00; five (5) for $20.00; fifteen (15) for $50.00.
7. Winners will be announced at the conclusion of The Great Sag Harbor Rubber Ducky Race at approximately 3:00 PM on September 12th. Winners will, if necessary, be notified by US Mail or by telephone. A list of winners may be obtained by sending a self addressed stamped envelope to Jordan's Initiative P.O. Box 2848 Sag Harbor, New York 11963 within 10 days of the race completion. Any prizes unclaimed after 90 days will be either returned to the donating organization or will be used for a lawful purpose at the sole discretion of the committee.
8. No cash equivalent will be awarded in lieu of the designated prizes. Any applicable taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner.
9. By adopting a duck through the purchase and completion of a raffle ticket, the entrant releases Jordan's Initiative and its members, agents, employees, volunteers, or related entities from any and all liabilities with respect to the prizes. All entrants consent to the promotional use of their names and likeness without compensation.
10. All final decisions and interpretations of these rules will be made at the sole and abolute discretion of the race organizers.
11. In the event that weather, waves, currents, or any other act of God or man prevents the race from being completed, a random drawing of numbers will determine the winning ducks.
12. All entrants holding a ticket with a number corresponding to a duck bearing a Bridgehampton National Bank (BNB) logo will automatically win a consolation prize donated by the Bank regardless of their place of finish. Winner needs to be present to receive the BNB consolation prize.
